It’s in the Bag… Literally!

The gift bags I made for today’s post use the same layout as the dishtowels in a previous post. I used Waltzingmouse Stamps sets Sewing Box – Hugs, Very Vintage Christmas (“For You” stamp), and Off beat Backgrounds (stitching on tags). My intent was to create a deluxe looking gift bag and it really went pretty quick once I figured out what I wanted to do. I will admit the tissue paper was TEDIOUS!  UGH! But I wanted matchy-matchy. The color themes are PTI’s Berry Sorbet and Hibiscus Burst. I am thinking if I stick in a couple of matching kitchen towels the would make a pretty nice gift.

WMS – “PTI Guide Lines Inspired”

The great think about Claire’s stamp sets is all of the wonderful design elements that are included. I decided I wanted to play around with a lot of them and see what I could come up with. I stamped on a full sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper making these OSWs I suppose. The style of bow I used is great for mailing. I cut my ribbon, glue the ends together, and then glue it under the sentiment. All stamps are by Waltzingmouse Stamps, as to which ones they are-I will leave the detective work up to you!

Crazy Chrysanthemum

Make it funky! I had James Brown singing in my mind while I made this card. The card pretty much created itself. I knew I wanted to use WMS Big Blooms-Chrysanthemums. I started by stamping various WMS background stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white paper. Originally, I was going to leave it at that but I felt it needed something more so I brought out the Copics and got to coloring. For the flower and leaves I followed the latest craze of tone-on-tone coloring, in this case I used PTI’s Hibiscus Burst and Simply Chartreuse cardstock. The background stamps I used were from the following WMS sets: Off Beat Backgrounds,  Pic-Nic Patterns, and Very Vintage Christmas.

Thank You Bouquet

Today’s card features a very old red rubba stamp from PSX (Personal Stamp Exchange). It is one of my most favorite stamps. The image is colored with Copics. The sentiment is PTI’s Big & Bold Wishes. I taped the panel onto a white card base so the bleed through would be covered up. I learned that I am not a tape person. This became a complete disaster so don’t look too closely at the edges. It is glue for me because I like the “wiggle room.”

Lovely Lilacs

Today I have another combination of Flourishes stamps and Lauren Meader’s templates, specifically Flourishes’ Lilac Stamp Set and MTME Pick of the Petals template. This template was really easy to put together but it looks like it would be impossible. Can’t beat that kind of bang for your buck!!!

I will leave you with a picture of the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. This one was one of my best shots. I was surprised at how vibrant the colors can be when the sun is shining – truly the Emerald Isle.

Strawberry Recipe Box

I made another fruit-themed recipe box to share with you all today. I have been in a coloring mood lately and stamps from Flourishes really seam to fit the bill! I used a PTI template designed by Lauren Meader called Card Couture. I really, really wish PTI would convert their Timeless Templates to SVG/electronic cutting files (if this has already happened and I missed it please let me know!). I don't like the score lines showing nor do I like the traces of the cutting outlines that show. You can see examples of this in the two pictures below  that show the inside of the box. I know, I am being picky picky.
I was going for a strawberry crate theme a PTI’s Background Basics: Woodgrain worked perfectly. A thought just occurred to me that using these stamps to create a basket background might be interesting… definitely a lot of masking required.

I created the recipe cards the same way I did for the lemon set, by using sticker paper.

The little strawberry on the lid hides the magnet closure and the eyelet I had used when I originally decided to close the box with elastic. It looked cute and worked well but started wearing out the paper on the box. I just hate when good ideas go bad. I always have a devil of a time getting the magnets to stick to the paper instead of each other.

I am still trying to decide if I want to use PTI’s recipe box set to add labels to the dividers.

The sets I used are Flourishes’ Strawberries and PTI’s Background Basics: Woodgrain and Fruitful Sentiments.

I’m Baaack!

Hello! Well, there has been a lot happening with me lately… finals, a trip to Ireland (yep, I met the lovely and wonderful Claire Brennan! YAY!–highlight of the trip!!!), a new computer, a new semester, a new job, my Cecropia caterpillar hatched into a moth, and that is all that I can think of right now. Oh, and I have been stamping up a small storm. More on all of this to follow bit by bit in the near future!
I am using my old camera for these next few posts. I left my lenses that I brought on vacation over at my parent’s house.  Sorry, these pictures are  a bit off. I forgot to adjust my AWB.
I finally found the time to use the templates Lauren has been creating over at My Time Made Easy. These are a piece of cake to whip up with an electronic cutter, especially if you follow the directions ;)!!!! The template I used here is Card Catch All.
The stamps I used are Flourishes’ Life, Love and Lemons and PTI’s Recipe Box and Fruitful Sentiments. I used standard 4x6 recipe cards. They happened to coordinate with my project perfectly.

I adjusted the next photo for white balance. Sorry, this pic is mainly for my own benefit so please bear with me.

On the front mat, I cut out two of the lemons and leaves and popped them up on foam tape for dimension.

I punched out the recipe card divider labels using two punches…I think 1 3/8 and 1 1/4. I had stamped each label twice, once in black and once in Simply Chartreuse. I finished them off with epoxy dome stickers.

Ooops! My big head caused the shadow in this next shot. I stamped the lemons on sticker paper, colored them, and cut them out. It made putting them on the recipe cards a snap.
